…As PDP Council Train Arrives Ward 9
The immediate past executive chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Gerald Oforji has publicly apologized to the people and residents of the area over his shortcomings when he was on seat.
He stated this while welcoming the LG party executives and its entourage in course of its wards-to-wards tour to consolidate on their gains as the train arrives Ward 9, anchoring at the Town School, Oyigbo over the weekend.
According to the former council boss, “Let me apologize to all those whom I have offended in one way or the other in course of my assignment. Please forgive me. It was not intentional,” he stated.
He further promised to join forces with other members to take the party to the next level; just as he appealed to the party stakeholders to help reconcile and strengthen the harmony and relative peace existing amongst them especially those who are described as aggrieved members of his group (Ndi Gerald).
Addressing the mega rally, the Oyigbo Local Government Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Ibeawuchi Alex explained that they actually came to inaugurate all the units executives of the party wards in their effort to consolidate on their achievements.
He commended the leadership of Ward 9 for according to him, “showing capacity in diverse ways”.
“We have heard all your complaints and appeals and we promised to look into all of them,” with a view to finding solution to them,” he said.
The party chairman however expressed delight at their efforts in mobilizing support for the party during the mega rally.
He further explained to his audience the meaning of the newly signed electoral law, adding that its implication is that enormous powers now lies with the polling units members, “What this means is that you as a member of the polling units, you know have power to vote and to be voted for. Today, politics has changed”.
He also informed the people that as a result of their hardwork, Oyigbo now has 46 polling units as against 18 in the past.
Hon. Ibeawuchi Alex further assured them that with the inauguration exercises over, the party executives would be dealing directly with the units executives, adding that an award will be instituted and given to the best unit to enable them work harder to increase their membership; assuring that everybody has equal rights in the party.
“Ward 9 is a blessed Ward in the local government because it has continued to maintain the lead as a result of its hardwork and peaceful disposition. We encourage you to do more and your reward will surely come,” he maintained.
He further urged the people to be steadfast and consistent with the PDP, pointing-out that there is no other political party to equate the PDP in Nigeria.
Hon. Ibe Alex equally assured that the party is the only one set to rescue the country from the mess the APC-led Federal government has plunged it.
In their welcome address earlier, the Ward Party Chairman of the LG, Hon. Kelechi Okorie his vice and the councilor representing the area in the Oyigbo Legislative Assembly, Hon Godson Onyegorom welcomed the august visitors with the assurance to deliver the party come 2023. They however laid some complaints which will strengthen their bond if properly handled.
