…As Hammer Falls On 17 House Of Reps, 4 Senate Seekers
The ambition of 36 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants to the Rivers State House of Assembly, come year 2023, have been thwarted following their inability to scale the screening hurdles.
According to the screening results published and made available to National Network on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, of the total of 67 aspirants that applied to contest the House of Assembly ticket under the platform of the PDP in Rivers, 31 were given the nod after a thorough screening exercise that involved series of considerations.
Some of the considerations observed by the committee in taking its decision were non-payment of taxes as and when due; non-payment of party membership dues; improper filling of screening forms; discrepancies on dates of birth; and lack of evidence of resignation from previous employment, among others.
Some of the aspirants whose names were on the failure list for the Rivers State House of Assembly were Agbesor Augustine Ogadi (Obio/Akpor 1); Cookey Omuso Reginald (Opobo/Nkoro); Uwa Rachael Obutor (Ahoada East 2); Ugundu Blessing Akudo (Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni); Nna Collins Nwalozie (Oyigbo); Nwauju Uche Cletus (Etche 1) and Ogam Ibiene Alali (Okrika).
Others who lost out in the screening exercise also include Abosi Israel (Ikwerre 1); Ideozi Amakiri Peace (Ahoada East 1); Nwigbarale Augustine Weenaebari (Khana 1); Amadi Thankgod Iheanyichukwu (Etche 2); Yerebie Barido Bobo (Khana 2); Chinwo Nwejime Innocent (Obio/Akpor) Igoni Willcox Ibinye Henrietta (Bonny) and Jack Gogo Geoffrey (Andoni) amongst others.
Consequently, a total of 17 aspirants to the House of Representatives also lost their bid to get the PDP ticket in the State. They include Pepple Helen Ndidi (Degema/Bonny); Welle Jennifer Dike (Port Harcourt 1); Paul Arthur Osaroejii (Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo); Yamaabana Sunday Legborsi (Khana/Gokana); Abraham Kalowi Duke (Okrika/Ogu/Bolo); and Amadi Thomas Chiboso (Port Harcourt 2) among others.
Aspirants for the Senate were not spared of the shock of rejection as 4 of them fell to the hammers of the Screening Committee. They are: Mr. Eke Jeffrey Kitoye (Rivers West); Simon Jeremiah Jacob (Rivers South East); Allen Ezekiel Hart (Rivers West) and Akarolo Chimbiko Iche (Rivers East).
