Defection: Asalga APC House Of Assembly Hopeful Appeals To Supporters Not To Be Discouraged

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ASALGA Constituency I, in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Okeipiriye Tom George has called on the people of his constituency to troop out in their numbers to register and collect their permanent voters cards (PVCs) as a prelude to voting in 2023.

Speaking on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Buguma, the headquarters of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of the State during the official opening of his campaign office, “Solution House,” he said the PVC is the only weapon to vote out bad leadership come 2023.

He urged his supporters and the entire APC family not to be deterred by the exit of his beloved father, Hon. Dawari George from the party but to keep hope alive so as to fight against the ongoing bad governance and leadership saying his faith on APC remains unshaken because he is very optimistic that his father left him in good care of the APC family and wished him well.

His words: “Hon. Dawari George has been a father to me after the death of my biological father. God used him to perfect what I am today. Wherever my beloved father is going to, I wish him the best of luck. Infact, I wish him more than what he wishes himself and we will continue to be the father and son that we are”.

He assured his people of good representation when he gets to the state legislature after victory at the 2023 election, boasting that they are yet to see the best of him.

The chairman of APC in ASALGA, Hon. Daere Samuel Horsfall said they were all devastated with the sudden exit of Hon. Dawari George from the party but urged all to remain calm and stay focused and give their mass vote to Okeipiriye whom he left behind and that they cannot afford to abandon him at this point in time.

He reiterated that Hon. Dawari George is a good man that has touched so many lives in different ways, and that Okeipiriye needs to be taken care of by all, by voting him into the State House of Assembly come 2023.

Barr. Onari Taria, the immediate past Rivers West Senatorial Vice Chairman of PDP, said he defected to APC because of the actions of Governor Nyesom Wike who made it mandatory for all the elected members of RSHA and House of Reps to go for 3rd term in Asalga, which he described as alien in the politics of Alsaga.

According to him, the gods of the land and the people of Asalga will work together to give victory to all APC candidates in Asalga because of the injustice meted on them by the imposition of candidates by the governor on them, “I have come to unseat all the incumbents,” he declared.
