Sim Fubara Wants PVC Sermon Preached To Opposition

As the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) continues the campaign for the people of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to acquire the Permanent Voters Cards, the Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amaopu Senibo Siminialayi Fubara has charged members of the group to step up the message by taking it to the opposition political parties, whom he referred to as “enemies” in the state.

Addressing GDI members and supporters who assembled at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt for the sensitization rally on Saturday, the PDP Standard bearer hinted that with what had been demonstrated so, it was evident that almost all GDI members now have their PVCs, hence the message should be directed to “our enemies” (referring to other political parties) whom he hopes would become  ‘friends’ of the PDP tomorrow.

Amaopusenibo Fubara also stated that due to the limited time left for the exercise, it had become expedient that the programme be taken to another level.

“This PVC Sensitization will end on the 31st of this month, so we have limited time left and because we have limited time, this sensitization has to move to another level. The programme has to be aggressive, high and forceful”, he said.

He commended the people of Obio/Akpor for their massive turn out for the programme and solicited their continuous support, adding that the support is not only for him but for their son, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who is also the leader and grand patron of GDI.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor had thanked the leadership of GDI for the good work they are doing in mobilizing and educating the people of the state on the need to register and obtain their PVCs which he noted is the only instrument through which they could exercise their voting right.

“When we were at Ikwerre I thought it was just a “Tsunami “, we went to Ahoada West and I saw ‘Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles’. Today I am seeing in Obio/Akpor a repetition of “Hiroshima “. I don’t know what will happen in Ahoada East”, he declared.

The Obio/Akpor PVC Sensitization rally featured solidarity messages from leaders and stakeholders from the area, including, Hon. O. K. Chinda, Martins Amaewhule, GDI President-General, Chief Bright Amaewhule, Chairmen of Obio/Akpor and Emohua Local Governments, George Ariolu and Chidi Lyod, Prince Weli Wosu, Chief Anugbum Onuoha, Rivers East Senatorial candidate, Chief Allwell Onyesoh, among others who underscored the importance of the Permanent Voters cards.

The event was attended by a cream of political juggernauts from within and outside Obio/Akpor LGA. They include the PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Professor (Mrs.) Ngozi Ordu, members of the National and State Assemblies, Local Government Chairmen,  PDP State Exco, led by the State Secretary, Dr. Benibo George, former Commissioners, and Special Advisers, as well as women, youth and students groups.
