Business Mogul Buries Mom In Ogbakiri

The body of late Prophetess (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonu, mother of Port Harcourt based business mogul and Oka Ome 1 of Ogbakiri, High Chief Gift Okonu, has been laid to rest in Ogbakiri, Emohua Local Government Area.

The burial which took place on Saturday, November 27, 2021, amid a clement weather, signifying heavenly approval, had dignitaries from all walks of life in attendance.

The final journey for the late Prophetess began with religious rites at her home town, Okporowo, Ogbakiri.

The late septuagenarian was born into the family of late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Womuru, a renowned bone doctor.  Until her demise, she was a devout Christian of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Okporowo Ogbakiri.

Speaking while paying tribute to his late mother after the interment, High Chief Gift Okonu described his mother as the secret behind his success in life.

The business mogul said her mother represented so many things to him and everyone that came around her, adding that she ‘wined and dined’ with everyone until death came knocking.

His words, “The success of my life is gone forever. She is more than wonderful. I have never played with her.  She was a woman who ate, accommodated and showed love to anyone that came around her.

As a way of immortalizing her, High Chief Okonu said that a noble foundation known as Okonu Foundation, had been opened to take care of widows and the less privilege in the society.

He said he had every reason to eulogize her mom and thank God Almighty for the impactful life she lived.

Also speaking, the late prophetess’ daughter-in-law, Mrs. Juliet Okonu, described the deceased as a generous mother, whose nice memories will be difficult to forget.

She noted that the vacuum left by her demise, would be hard to fill, while expressing gratitude to God for sending a virtues woman to her.

Mrs. Okonu who urged other women to take a cue from her ending love and care for other people’s children, stated emphatically that the family is not mourning, but rather celebrating a worthy and impactful mother.

In the same vein, the wife of the Rivers State APC Chairman, Lady Augusta Emeka Beke, described the late Prophetess as a rare gem and role model, adding that meeting her is one of the greatest things that could happen to anyone.

“We are proud she had wonderful children who behaved like her, especially High Chief Gift Okonu.  The Eze Oka Ome 1 remains a wonderful gift and humility personified.  He is a friend of the youths, who has also impacted many lives”, she said.
