Illegal Oil Bunkering: NSCDC Rivers Command To Arraign 19 Suspects In Court

The Rivers State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abu Addu Tambuwal has disclosed that the 19 suspected oil thieves arrested by the corps recently will soon be arraigned in court.

The state NSCDC Commandant, Abu Addu Tambuwal made the disclosure in a press briefing with journalists last Monday while giving a breakdown of the efforts made by the command to rid the state of illegal oil bunkering.

Mr. Tambuwal said 9 out of the 19 suspects oil thieves were intercepted and arrested at an illegal oil dumpsite located around former church compound, Borokiri new road, off Naval Base express road, Port Harcourt last week Friday.

The NSCDC Commandant further disclosed that a green Nissan Primera car ladened with suspected illegally refined petroleum products (AGO) was recovered from the suspects.

He said the same day another six suspected oil thieves were arrested and over 200 drums filled with suspected adulterated AGO were destroyed at an illegal oil dump site at Borokiri.

Another four, has added, were also arrested same day alongside a Yamaha boat engine at an illegal oil dump site close to the creek at Borokiri where several drums filled with suspected adulterated products were punctured and destroyed.

Mr. Tambuwal explained that the command last week Friday impounded a white colour ford bus with reg No. Abia AR 183 UMA loaded with unquantified quantity of illegal refined AGO (diesel) concealed in sacks at Elele-Alimini.

He further explained that the command last week Saturday impounded a wooden boat laden with unquantified suspected illegally refined AGO alongside two Yamaha 40 Horse Power outboard engine while a blue mack meck with Reg No. Borno Dam 97XA loaded with unquantified suspected illegally refined AGO at George Ama Community in Okrika Local Government Area.

The NSCDC State Command added that all the exhibits are at the State headquarters and at Ife Command jetty, at Ogbogoro.
