RSHA Passes Child Rights Protection Bill Into Law

To protect the rights of every child,  Rivers State House of Assembly has passed Rivers State Child’s Right Law Amendment Bill 2021 into law.

The law which is an upgrade of the principal law number 10 of 2009 now has the rights of the children in the state fully protected while clearing the existing ambiguities.

Earlier the lawmakers had during their debates at the committee of the whole lauded the executive for sponsoring the bill that provided greater efficacy to the principal law.

Speaking in favour of its passage, they expressed happiness that the law is brought to keep pace with the modern trends and time adding that with the amendment the law will now accommodate the realities on ground with regards to new innovations in information and technology.

In a related development, the House has also passed the Renaming of Produce House, Waterlines House, Old Aba Road, Liberation Stadium, Elekahia Road and Judges Quarters Bill 2021 into law.

The lawmakers said renaming some structures in the state after the names of those who have invested their time and energy in the state is a way of appreciating and honouring elder statesmen.
