COVID-19: Chief Whip Doles Out Preventive Kits

As a way of curtailing the wide spread of coronavirus known as COVID-19 the Chief Whip of Degema Legislative Assembly and Councilor representing the people of ward 4, Hon. Lucky Ogidi Fred, on Saturday donated preventive kits to the people of Bakana.

Hon. Fred who was in collaboration with the leadership of the Bakana Youth Association (BYA) and the Bakana Students Association (BSA), equally sensitized the people from ward to ward on how to adhere strictly to the preventive measures recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

He appealed that all residents of the area should continue to maintain proper personal hygiene and observe proper social distancing.

While apprising them that the measure, taken by the State government to contain the dreaded virus was in their best interest, he assured that the government would in the coming days send relief materials to help cushion the effect of the lock down in the state.

He said the leadership of Degema Local Government Area headed by Hon. Tony Philmoore was on top of the matter and had put necessary measures in place to tackle the issue, for which different committees had already been constituted by the chairman of Council.

Some of the items presented to the Boat Drivers Association include hand washing buckets, hand sanitizers, face masks and hand gloves which were positioned both at entry and exit points of Abonnema Wharf and Bakana jetties.
