Ogoni Women Group Rolls Out Red Carpet, Endorses Sim, Dekor
Ogoni women under the aegis of Beeri Gbobiaka/Dum Action Ladies have expressed their unflinching desire to work for the actualization of Sir Siminalayi Fubara as the next governor of Rivers State and to also work for the re-election of Rt. Hon. Dumnamene Robinson Dekor for the Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency to the House of Representatives.
Speaking during a red-carpet reception held in honour of Rt. Hon. Dum Dekor at Beeri, Khana Local Government Area on Saturday, the women said their main objective is to galvanize support towards the victory of Sim and Dekor as they await the 2023 general elections.
In an address read on behalf of the group by Mrs. Charity Serekara Ledum, and co-signed by Miss Beauty Zuguru and Leka Helen Nwiteh, the Beeri Gbobiaka/Dum Action Ladies commended Dum Dekor for the good works he has done not just in Beeri Community but in Ogoniland at large.
“You are a role model and a son to be proud of. Your magnanimity speaks volume in Beeri and beyond and we say ‘Thank You’ and God bless you and your family”, the women echoed.
The ladies who are drawn from Beeri Ward 9 in Khana Local Government Area went on to chronicle some of the projects which were promised and executed for the people of Beeri by the federal lawmaker.
The projects include: Solar water in Beakogoro; Solar water in Nyogor; Building of Science laboratory in BHS, Beeri; Building of a befitting Corper’s Lodge in BHS, Beeri; Building of six classroom blocks for the UBE Section of BHS, Beeri and installation of electricity appliances in Beeri.
Other projects executed by Dekor, a former Deputy Speaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly are payment of electricity bills for all the communities in Beeri; empowerment of 41 persons from Beeri through N500,000 Covid-19 loan; facilitated another Covid-19 loan of three to four (N3-4) million naira to five indigenes of Beeri; provided job opportunities for some indigenes of Beeri in various government institutions and agencies; payment of N50,000 bursary to 120 undergraduate students each of Beeri Community; and payment of N100,000 to 7 post graduate students each of Beeri.
“He also provided solar light to Beakogoro and Saah Communities; assistance to church development in Beeri; empowered 75 market women in Beeri with N20,000 each and building of primary school at Luegbo.
“Dum Dekor empowered 45 persons from Beeri with N50,000 each and another 35 persons respectively, generators and laptops to others through the training for women/youths in Small Medium Enterprises (SMES) in Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency; and sponsorship of Beeri festival every year which includes: (a) football competition (b) religious activities (c) medical outreach (d) cultural displays and (e) beach party”, they further listed.
While praying for more projects and empowerment programmes, the Ogoni women pledged their loyalty to the PDP and Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Responding, the elated federal lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Dum Dekor promised to do more for the people of Khana/Gokana, assuring that the PDP government under Sim Fubara would put smiles on the faces of the Ogoni people.
Rt. Hon. Dekor was accompanied to the reception by the Chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Dr. Thomas Bariere, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Aneabari Donald, Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Austine Sor, the Vice Chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Hon. Nugbenekpugi Ibrahim, Khana Constituency 2 PDP candidate, Hon. Dinebari Loolo, PDP Chairman, Khana LGA, Inaania Lenebari Saro, Dr. Moses Neebee, Pastor Jerry Needam and other leaders of the PDP in Khana/Gokana LGA.
He promised to do more, to ensure a befitting end of year activity for the women in the area.
The former Commissioner for Works and former Deputy Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly also charged those who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so in order to exercise their franchise in next year’s general elections.
He assured them that the PDP will bring development to Ogoni and appealed to them to vote for the PDP Governorship candidate, Sir Sim Fubara, Senatorial candidate for Rivers South East, Senator Barry Mpigi and all PDP Assembly candidates.
