PDP Campaign Rallies: Elder Statesmen Welcome Gov Wike, Entourage To Opobo Kingdom

As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) moves her campaign train to Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area on Saturday, excitement has filled the air with the anticipated visit of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and entourage to the ancient kingdom of Opobo.

Consequently, prayers of appreciation and journey mercies for the august visitors are being offered by well-meaning people of the local government.

For the Opobo Elder Statesmen 4 Sim, a socio-political group dedicated to the victory of the PDP in the forthcoming Guber Election in the State, the governor’s visit to the ancient Kingdom is a welcome development and something to savour.

The group which comprised of Alapus, respected elders and professionals of repute in Opobo kingdom, said they would lay a red carpet for Governor Wike whom they said, have imprinted his name in gold through his landmark projects in Opobo and the state at large.

Chairman of Opobo Elder Statesmen 4 Sim, Alabo Edwin Cockeye Brown in a statement, said the present and future generations of Opobians will celebrate Governor Wike whom he described as “an angel used by God to link Opobo with the rest of the world through road”.

“History will continue to celebrate our golden governor, Mr. Quality Projects and Doyen of Infrastructure, for breaking the jinx and making it possible for us to drive into Opobo Kingdom, after centuries of commuting only through the waters. Almighty God will reward him for us”, the Chairman said.

The Statesmen also lauded the governor and the leadership of PDP in the state for their support which crystallized in the emergence of an Opobo son, Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara as the PDP governorship flag bearer in the forthcoming Guber election in the state.

“We also pray the Almighty God to make the dream of having our son as the next governor of Rivers State a reality. We assure the good people of this state that as God answers our prayers, Sir Siminialayi Fubara will not let us down”, the statement added.

On the collection of the Permanent Voters Card (PVC), Alabo Edwin Cockeye Brown commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for harkening to the yearnings of Nigerians by extending the deadline to February 5, 2023 and urged those yet to collect their PVCs to do so.
