NRM Gov’ship Candidate, Jackrich Dismisses Tonye Cole’s Call For Joint Ticket
The governorship candidate of the National Rescue Mission, Chief Sobomabo Jackrich has faulted the call by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Arch. Tonye Cole for other governorship candidates of the Kalabari extraction to Jettison their ambition and join forces with him to ensure that a Kalabari governor takes over from Barr. Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during a media parley in Port Harcourt, on Monday, Feb. 13, Chief Jackrich noted with dismay that rather called for a meeting of all the governorship candidates to discuss the issue, Tonye Cole went public through the media.
He described the action of Pastor Tonye Cole as an act of disrespect for his Kalabari brothers and lack of self-confidence, saying that if Pastor Tonye Cole actually meant well for himself and the people of Kalabari kingdom he would have met with them in a closet door for the interest of the Kalabari nation.
The NRM governorship hopeful called on Rivers people not to be carried away by the showbiz by desperate politicians who are out to deceive them, noting that Rivers State is in dire need of a leader, who would liberate her from the shackles of poverty and tyrannical leadership.
His words: “Governance is not about how wealthy you are, your qualifications or speaking plenty grammar but what you are bringing to the table of Rivers people with all forms of sincerity. Right now what the State needs is a leader, a liberator that will be acceptable, transparent, ensure that the basic amenities of life are provided to the people and I am that leader and liberator that Rivers people need now, ” he declared.
He reiterated that his chances of winning the election are very bright as he has what it takes to pull Rivers State out of the shackles of poverty and tyranny to an enviable height in view of his antecedents.
Chief Jackrich noted that in a democratic setting, people are allowed to decide their choice, saying from his consultations, he is sure the people will vote him enmasse as they prefer development to the present situation of tyranny, adding that the endorsement of Pastor Tonye Cole by Chief Asari Dokubo is inconsequential because Chief Dokubo has the right of his opinion to endorse whosoever he so desires.
“Chief Asari Dokubo is my elder brother, endorsing Cole has nothing to do with me, he has his PVC and perhaps, he will convince his followers to vote for his preferred candidate but definitely not my supporters,” he said.
Chief Jackrich pointedly declared that it would be a thing of joy if a Kalabari man becomes the next governor of Rivers State but it must be somebody who has the interest of the people at heart.
On the recent approval by the Rivers Council presided by Governor Nyesom Wike for the reconstruction and dualisation of the Emohua – Abalama – Tema Junction road he said is another ruse.
He faulted the time of awarding the project, the outrageous amount for the project and also entertained fear of the next governor not continuing with the project. Since September last year till now, all I see is snapping the road but now that it’s time to vote he has awarded the road, I am only worried but one thing I will not do is to thank him because it is our right to access good roads”, he said.
