Voter’s Registration Exercise Gears Up In Ogu/Bolo As Council Boss Sets Up Committee

To ensure massive compliance with the ongoing voter’s registration exercise, various committees have been set up to ensure enough sensitization and awareness among the people of Ogu/Bolo, Rivers State.

The Chairman of the council, Hon Vincent Nemieboka disclosed this to newsmen shortly after a stakeholder meeting on Monday, September 6, 2021 at the council headquarters. He said this is very important to educate and sensitize the people on the need to get registered as it is their inalienable right to do so, so as not to disenfranchise them during elections.

Hon. Nemieboka said that the committees will together with the councilors in their various wards educate, inform and mobilize the people on how to get registered, adding it is not only by registering and collecting their PVC’s in order to vote during any election. He argued that the PVC’s have the capacity of opening several doors of opportunities for the citizens of this country.

The council boss stressed that taking part in the on-going voter’s registration and collection of their PVC’s would serve as their potent power and right to promote good governance.

He urged the people of Ogu/Bolo not to shy away from carrying out their civic obligation for the period that the voter’s registration exercise would last and called on those just clocking 18years to ensure they also get registered as the exercise serves as a tool to national development.

The council boss charged members of the committee to be diligent in their duties as all apparatus for the smooth conduct of the exercise has been provided.

Responding, the INEC official, Mr Hanson Jonahs, Assistant Electoral Officer Operations, thanked the chairman for his proactive measures and also urged the people of the LGA to come out and register between the hours of 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday. The exercise will run till August, 2022.
