Ihunda Has Brought  Development To PHALGA, Council Replies Critic

The attention of the press department of the Port Harcourt City Local Government has been drawn to a statement credited to one Isreal Aseminaso who claim to be an indigene of Port Harcourt, where he claimed that the Mayor of the City, Sir Allwell Ihunda has brought no development to wards 4, 5, 6 and 7 in the last two years of his administration.

Ordinarily, it’s not in our nature to respond to issues from faceless individuals, but we decided to respond to this in order to put the records straight and ensure that the general public is not misinformed, hence the following facts.

The Mayor has signed the identification letters equally across the 20 wards of the LGA since he assumed office a little over 2 years ago.

Over 60 youths & women have benefitted from the Local Government’s Skills Acquisition Program from the 4 Wards (4,5,6,7).

Over 45 persons from the 4 Wards are presently engaged by the Local Government as political appointees.

The Local Government has built a toilet facility at Captain Amangala Street in Ward 7 of the Old Township, a project that was nominated by the people of the ward.

The Local Government has constructed a 12,000 litres capacity Braithwaite water project at the Bundu Waterfront in the Old Township. The project was also nominated by the people.

Out of the 200 widows & indigent women from the 20 Wards of the LGA. that were given grants to start petty businesses by the Local Government, 40 were selected from the 4 Wards.

Councillors of the 4 Wards also got their official cars, alongside others Councillors that was provided by the Local Government.

The Local Government is presently constructing a 27 rooms public convenience at Marine Base waterfront in ward 6.

This was done in quick response to an SOS message by the people of the area, who complained that their previous convenience (of 9 rooms) collapsed, leaving them in a terrible situation.

Sir Allwell Ihunda & the House of Assembly member representing the Constituency Hon. Tonye Smart Adoki influenced the construction of Bundu Road by the State Government.

Conclusively, we want to state categorically that the said Israel Aseminaso has no single interest in the development and progress of the area he claimed to speak for, neither is he representing any group. He’s just speaking for himself.

Signed by Bob Abayomi, Chief Press Secretary, Port Harcourt City Local Government
