Khana Council Chairman Blows Hot Over Disappearance, Rescue Of Underaged Ogoni Girls In Bayelsa

The Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Bariere Thomas has taken a firm stance over the apparent disappearance and rescue of two underaged Ogoni girls in Akemfa, Bayelsa State, vowing to prosecute those responsible for the wicked and cruel act.

A statement signed on his behalf by the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman on Electronic Media, Daniel Dorka N. said the incident, which has captured global attention, following a viral online video, left the Khana Local Government Council and authorities shocked and concerned.

Thomas said children were discovered in Akemfa community, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and subsequent investigations revealed that they hailed from Ogoni, precisely Kpong community, Khana Local Government Area.

He emphasized that the Khana Council, in conjunction with relevant authorities, would leave no stone unturned in the quest to uncover the truth behind the incident, assuring that the investigation would be swift, thorough, and transparent, with no room for interference or corruption.

“We will not rest until we identify and prosecute all those who are involved in this act and make sure they face the full force of the law.”, the Chairman said.

The statement said the incident in the viral video, captured the plight of the young children in Bayelsa State.

Promptly responding to the situation, Dr. Thomas Bariere, who is committed to the safety and security of his people, took immediate action to understand the circumstances surrounding the children’s presence in Akemfa community.

The Executive Chairman, along with a delegation from the Khana Local Government Council, paid a visit to the Akemfa Police Station in Bayelsa State to gain a better understanding of the situation.

Through the collaborative efforts of the Khana authorities and the diligent work of the police, the identities of the children were established, confirming that they were indeed from Ogoni, Khana Local Government Area.

With an unwavering commitment with the view to reuniting the rescued children with their family, the Khana Council Boss left no stone unturned in ensuring their safe return home.

“Today, we are delighted to announce that the children have been successfully reunited with their family, bringing immense joy and relief to all parties involved”, he said.

Dr. Thomas expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the law enforcement agencies in Bayelsa State for their swift action and cooperation in resolving the matter.

He also expressed his gratitude to the community members of Akemfa for their assistance and support during this process likewise the Royal Fm Bayelsa state for the publicity.

“Ensuring the safety and welfare of our citizens is a top priority for the Khana Local Government Council, and this successful reunion serves as a testament to our dedication in protecting and caring for the people of Khana”, he further declared.
