CAN Offers Prayers For Peaceful Election

Rivers State Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has urged Christians to work in unity in order to promote the Kingdom of God.

Governor Wike who gave the charge during the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN National Day of Prayer held in Port Harcourt, said when Christians come together and pray the powers of enemy can be subdued.

The Governor who was represented by the Special Adviser to Governor on Religious Matters, Bishop W. T. Iwo urged Christians to be open-minded in their dealings.

In his message, the Arch-Bishop of Methodist Church Port Harcourt Diocese, Most Reverend Sunday Agwu spoke on conducting credible, fair and free election in the country.

Arch-Bishop Agwu also emphasized on the need for the people to live together in righteousness and do away with cheating and oppression of the poor.

He stressed that what happened at Ondo and Osun State election were a lot of people did not vote should not occur in election in Nigeria.

The man of God told politicians that they should not be involved in shedding of blood during the election, stressing that any one that shed blood to enter office, the blood would worry him when and after the office.

The Methodist Arch-Bishop advice the Federal Government to always allow the masses to exercise their right during election by voting for candidate of their choice.

Highpoint of the event was prayer for the success of the state governor in his second term bid, as well the unity ad peace of Nigeria.
