The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed a unanimous vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling on him to contest for a second term in office in 2027.
The resolution was reached on Wednesday during the 37th Legislative Sitting of the Second Session of the Tenth Assembly, where 26 lawmakers endorsed a motion highlighting the President’s “visionary and purposeful leadership.”
Presenting the motion, Leader of the House, Hon. Major Jack, praised President Tinubu for what he described as sustained goodwill toward Rivers people, citing the appointment of several indigenes into key federal positions and the ongoing execution of federal projects across the State.
He described the President as a “fatherly leader” who has strengthened national development through bold reforms and increased fiscal flows to States and Local Governments.
In their contributions, lawmakers commended the President’s economic policies and the visible infrastructural interventions across Rivers State.
They highlighted the positive impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda on governance at the sub-national level.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, echoed these sentiments, applauding the President’s compassionate leadership style and reiterating that he has fulfilled his promises to Rivers people.
The Speaker recalled the recent visit of prominent Rivers leaders to the Presidency and noted that Tinubu’s administration has so far appointed 39 indigenes of the State into federal offices.
Following deliberations, the Assembly resolved to:
- Pass a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
- Commend him for federal appointments and ongoing projects in the State.
- Convey the Assembly’s support and loyalty through FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
- Urge the President to run for a second term.
- Mandate lawmakers to begin sensitization and mobilization of constituents in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda. The sitting was broadcast live on major television stations and monitored my National Network Newspaper in Port Harcourt.
