Rivers PDP Chairman Calls For Unity, Commitment From Party Members

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, has urged members of the party to remain united and committed to the course of securing victory for the party’s Governorship candidate, Amoapu Senibo Siminialayi Fubara and his running mate, Professor Ngozi Odu in the 2023 election.

Ambassador Akawor also told party loyalists and stalwarts to dismantle all the camps formed before the Governorship Primaries, now that a candidate has emerged for the party.

Desmond Akawor gave the advice Monday 27th June, 2022 while speaking  to party members at the twice weekly Praise and Worship programme tagged, “One Hour With Jesus” at the State party Secretariat, Aba road, Port Harcourt.

He stated that the party governorship candidate, Amaopu Senibo Sim Fubara does not belong to any camp, disclosing that his camp is the PDP structure which he is working very closely with.

“The issue of jumping from one camp to another to be identified does not pay. Our Governorship candidate, Sim Fubara is working with  the party.

The truth is that our party is still at a very advantageous position. We need to stay together so that at the end of the day we will be able to lift our shoulders high that we delivered this Governor and it will be easy to go to him and ask how far”.

Ambassador Akawor who announced that the campaign for the 2023 Governorship election in the state would be driven by the PDP and the Grassroots Development initiative, GDI, said no other NGO would be allowed to engage in separate campaigns for the candidate.

The State PDP Chairman also informed that the GDI had been permitted to launch its sensitization program ahead of actual campaign for the Governorship election in September this year adding that GDI would release .its Time Table for the sensitization program this week.

“GDI is going to bring out its time table this week so that  they will run their Sensitization programme from LGA to LGA. That will be on until September when the campaign team will be available both at the State and LGAs and campaigns will then take off”.

He told members of the party not to be disillusioned with what happened during the party’s Convention in Abuja, asserting that the Governor did not disgrace the party and the state during the Convention.

”The good thing is that our Principal, the Governor of the state had a good fight in Abuja. Ofcourse  the whole place quaked, including the opposition confessed that this was the man that came first”.

While commending members of the congregation for being steadfast in the One Hour With Jesus programme, Ambassador Desmond Akawor  reminded them that their prayers had not gone unanswered, judging by the successes recorded during the various Congresses and National Convention in Abuja, urging them to continue to be firm, and peaceful.

“So for this I still want to urge you to continue in what we are doing because we are seeing the benefits that this prayer we are doing is paying off”.

He used the forum to announce that a Choral group would be formed from among members of the congregation, adding that the group would perform at State functions like other choral groups in the state.
