Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has commended the State Chief Executive Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, for giving Rivers State a pride of place in sports development in the Country.
Dr. Banigo gave this commendation in a statement from the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, 27th June, 2022, while reacting to the victory of Rivers United as the winner of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as well as the commencement of admission of students into the Real Madrid Football Academy in Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor said as a worthy recipient of the Power of Sports Africa Award, Governor Wike has continued to demonstrate great leadership, commitment and passion for Sports development, in the State, Country and the African Continent.
She congratulate the Rivers United Football Club for the Victory after five years and expressed the hope that Rivers United would win the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League as Nigeria’s representative next season.
