Sad Weekend For Rivers APC As More ‘Big Guns’ Dump Party

The gale of resignations trailing the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continued with more big wigs leaving the party at the weekend.

While the dust raised by the shocking news of the resignation of top party chieftain and the party’s former Gubernatorial Aspirant, Dr. Dawari George early Friday is yet to settle, another stalwart, Hon. Millerye Boma Atiyegoba also took the party’s exit door.

In his resignation letter, Atiyegoba said: “In view of recent happenings in our Party, I do hereby tender my unreserved resignation as a member of the All Progressives Congress”.

Dawari’s resignation was preceded by that of Comrade Celestine Akpobari, the Chairman of the APC in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Amb. Marvin Yobana, another chieftain of the Party in Khana LGA was the next to resign after Celestine Akpobari. Both big guns in the past, expressed gratitude to the party hierarchy.

The Magnus Abe faction of the APC also witnessed the resignation of it’s Chairman, Hon. Golden Chioma.

He said in his resignation letter that he cannot remain in a political party where “one man employs the governor for the benefit of one man”.

The resignation bug has also hit the APC in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area as a former CTC member of the APC in it’s formative stage, Robinson Elechi has dumped the party he once midwifed.

In his resignation letter addressed to the AP. Chairman, ONELGA Ward 10 dated July 8, Elechi wrote inter Alia: “Tide has changed and it’s politically expedient that I take a leap of faith in my political journey…”
