Addressing participants on Wednesday during the opening ceremony before a packed audience, Governor Wike said that the overall winner (first position) will go home with N20million.
The governor stated that the second placed winner will be rewarded with M15million while the third placed gets N10million.
All other participating teams, according to the governor, will get N5million each.
Governor Wike assured that the State would continue to play host to sporting and entertainment events because of the pervading peace and tranquility, while commending the sportsmen and women of the judiciary for choosing to hold the event in Rivers State.
In his speech, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen said that Rivers State ranks the highest in terms of support to the judiciary and her activities.
The CJN, who was represented by Justice Sidi Bage, urged other States to emulate the Wike example in giving support to the judiciary as that would help to grow the sector.
Justice Onnoghen explained that sports is vital to the mental and physical development of members of the judiciary, adding that this makes them to remain fit in order to carry out their responsibilities.
Thirty courts and judicial bodies affiliated with the National Sports Association for Judiciary are participating in the event, while 12 States with observer status are also attending.
A posthumous award was presented to the late Attorney-General of Rivers State, Emmanuel Aguma (SAN), for his outstanding supports for the National Sports Association for Judiciary.###
