Tension As Robbers, Kidnappers Re-Emerge On Emohua-Kalabari Road
Commuters plying the Emohua -Kalabari road, Rivers State have been gripped by fear following the re-appearance of armed robbers and kidnappers on the road.
A recent attack on the road by the hoodlums reportedly claimed the life of a driver simply identified as Mr. Salvation.
A driver, and colleague of the deceased driver told Journalists that late Salvation left the Mile 1 Flyover park and was heading to Buguma city when gunmen ambushed him at a bad spot along the Emohua-Kalabari road.
He said the driver was shot dead by the gunmen while about eight occupants of the vehicle were Kidnapped.
He also alleged that Police Officers stationed at the road have refused to mount at the major flash points along the route where gunmen usually carry out their activities.
One of the Kidnapped victims has reportedly regained freedom after paying one hundred and fifty thousand naira.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe Koko said the command was investigating the incident.
Recall that drivers plying the Emohua-Kalabari road had staged a protest about a month ago, calling on relevant security agencies and the Rivers State Government to improve security along the route over incessant kidnapping.
