ZLP Gov’ship Candidate Harps On Self Examination
As Rivers State joins the rest of the country on yet another democratic transition of power, the Zenith Labour Party governorship candidate Rt. Hon. Leyii Kwanee has called for self-examination by all citizens before choosing who leads them in the next four years.
He made the call while unveiling his Deputy, Mrs Brassba Jack.
He said his antecedents in leadership and governance as a two-time member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, with the privilege of humbly serving the State as Deputy Speaker between 2011 and 2015 are credentials of honour and loyalty to the interests of Rivers people.
He stated that his presence in the political space in the race to 2023 should reinforce the hopes and aspirations of Rivers people and also serve as a connecting hub to truly take back power to the people while restoring human dignity.
Stressing the need to build a better Rivers State he assured that working in harmony with his Deputy who brings to the ticket a wealth of complementary experience, his faith in the Constitution and the laws of the land, and his abiding faith in God, would make it impossible to disappoint the Rivers people.
He described upcoming 2023 general elections in the State as a very important event that would provide opportunity for electorates to choose leaders with the capacity to provide solutions to identified problems.
The former Deputy Speaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly disclosed his party’s readiness to participate in a peaceful elections adding that Zenith Labour Party will not be distracted by the recent Executive Order 21 restricting unapproved political rallies in the state.
He however expressed his party’s commitment to obeying legitimate laws of the land as it cannot trade the security of the lives and properties of people living and doing business in the State for anything.
“Have we done well? If not, where and what were responsible for our failure where we did not do well? How do we march forward from the ashes of failure and build the present and future of our dreams”?. Who shall we partner with to drive our vision, dreams and mission”?, he queried.
On the choice of his running mate, the former lawmaker informed that he has found a sister and co-worker in the vineyard to deliver a Rivers State where the core values of human dignity, equality of persons and equal opportunities, respect, amity, peace, tangible and far-reaching developments anchored on the fear of God are not mere symptoms but evidence of a march to greatness.
