One of the Ward Collation Centre Officers in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Samuel Ogbonna has assured party faithfuls that PDP will recover their mandate that was violently stolen on the March 9, 2019 Governorship/State Assembly election.
Speaking with newsmen at Oyigbo, he made it clear that as one of the persons at the centre of the electoral process, he was willing to testify at the electoral tribunal with all the evidence at his disposal.
According to him, “the election was relatively peaceful and results recorded at all the polling units where PDP overwhelmingly won the election because voters turn out was high inspite of the militarization of that election and the electorate were ready and willing to reciprocate Governor Wike’s gesture for coming to Oyigbo people’s rescue after many years of infrastructural decay,” he stated.
However, he stated, the soldiers, APC chieftains and thugs had laid ambush for the ward returning officers and seized the electoral materials from them as the soldiers attacked PDP agents and barricaded the collation centre, against the PDP supporters while the rigging took place inside.
Hon. Ogbonna who was a one-time Supervisory Councillor for Works & Transport in Oyigbo Local Government Council maintained that despite all that happened, all the Oyigbo 109 Units results which confirms the electoral victory of the PDP are intact.
“I am ready to contest this at the electoral tribunal or at the Commission of Enquiry set up by the Rivers State Government over the election violence in order to recover our stolen mandate which eventually gave Prof. Onyemachi Nwakpa’s victory to the SDP candidate”.
Hon. Ogbonna also made it clear that all the electoral officers and party agents who participated in that election are equally ready and willing to appear and present their various authentic unit results to corroborate his statement.
While using the opportunity to condole with the families of victims of that election especially the murder of late Chijioke Azuonwu in cold blood, Hon. Ogbonna cursed and declared that the blood of the innocent persons killed in a bid to fraudulently throw out Governor Nyesom Wike from the Brick House and hoist a puppet governor in the state for selfish interest will continue to hunt the Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi till his death.
He equally used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Wike for his dogged fight to claim his mandate freely given to him by Rivers people in his re-election bid and reaffirmed the loyalty and support of Oyigbo people to his administration.
