Killing Of OYF President: Senseless, Barbaric –  Shedrack

The Chairman of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, Dr. Chukwu Shedrack Ogbogu, has described the abduction and killing of the newly elected President of the Omoku Youth Association, Ifeanyi Azuazu as senseless and barbaric.

The tragic incident which occurred on Thursday, February 5, 2026, where yet to be identified gunmen reportedly invaded Azuazu’s shop along Palace Road and opened fire indiscriminately. during which his security guard, Chigozie Olowu was shot dead, while several others sustained bullet injuries.

After the shooting, the assailants abducted Azuazu and whisked him away to an undisclosed location.

Confirming the development on Friday 6, February 2026 the Commander of the ONELGA Security, Peace and Advisory Council (OSPAC), Emeka Onyeocha said his lifeless body was discovered without head in a bush at Elieta Community.

Meanwhile, Dr. Shedrack expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives and wondered how the attackers should have utter disregard for human life and the peace of ONELGA.

Dr chukwu called on security agencies, including OSPAC, to take immediate and decisive action to track down the perpetrators.

He also appealed to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police to order a full-scale and thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice, warning that unchecked criminal acts could endanger public safety and called for increased security presence in Omoku and neighbouring communities to prevent future occurrences.

He sympathized with the family of the deceased and the Omoku Youth Federation, and prayed that God grants them and the entire Omoku community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, the Omoku Youth Federation has condemned the killing of its President, Comrade Ifeanyi Ishmael Azuazu, and his aide, Mr. Chigozie Olowu, describing the incident as a heinous act that threatens peace and security in Omoku.

Members of the youth body took to the streets in Omoku, calling for the collaboration of all parents, leaders, traditional institutions, security agencies, the Local Government Authority, the Rivers State Government, and the Federal Government of Nigeria to urgently apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime to face justice as to forestall further breakdown of law, destruction of life and property in Omoku communities. Dr. Shadrack appreciated the Youths of Omoku and various communities for their show of benevolence and solidarity, we also commend the security agencies especially OSPAC, Police, JTF and DSS for their relentless efforts.
