RSHA Frowns Against Marginalization Of Rivers People
The Rivers State House of Assembly has decried the way and manner the companies operating in the state marginalize Rivers people in terms of employment opportunities.
This follows a petition presented before the committee by the Indigenous Contractors Association of Onne over their alleged marginalization in the state.
The House Committee Chairman on Local Content, Youths and Employment, Hon. Igwe Oforji while reacting to the petition stated that the House will no longer tolerate the attitude of company owners who fail to engage Rivers people in their Companies.
Condemning the Management of the West African Containers Terminal for failing to uphold the tenets of the Global Memorandum Of Understanding (GMOU) with the indigenous contractors in Onne, he said that the committee has mandated the company to provide all documents in relation to the present and past GMOU before the committee.
He further asked the Community Laison Officer (CLO) to appear before the committee and assured that his committee will ensure that the rightful positions of Rivers people get to them without any further delay in the state.
