Anxiety Doused As Gov Wike Releases List Of Commissioners, Special Advisers
Political gladiators in Rivers State can now heave a sigh of relief following the announcement of 13 Commissioner nominees and appointment of 15 Special Advisers by Gov Nyesom Wike.
The names of the Commissioners nominees have also been forwarded to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as Commissioners designate while the newly appointed Special Advisers will be sworn in Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Executive Council Chamber of Government House, Port Harcourt.
The appointments are coming six months after Governor Nyesom Wike assumed office for his second term.
Rivers people had been apprehensive over the non appointment of Commissioners by Governor Wike which had led to varying speculations from both the members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the opposition.
Meanwhile, there appears to be apprehension in some quarters as most of the former Commissioners and Special Advisers who had hoped to be recalled did not make the list.
The list of commissioners nominees has seven new members as against 6 former commissioners.
Also recall that Gov Nyesom Wike had earlier sent a request to the State House of Assembly for the appointment of 35 Special Advisers.
