…Adds, ‘I’m Not Dollar’…As PDP Spits Fire
As the war of words over the Edo Election intensifies, the Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Campaign Committee for Edo State, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has lashed out at the Chairman of the APC Campaign Committee for the Edo Election and Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje.
Wike took off the kids gloves when he fired back at Ganduje by declaring, “You Can’t Isolate Me into your Baban Riga’s pocket; I’m not dollar”.
The Rivers State Governor who was making reference to an earlier threat by Ganduje who was quoted as saying he will send Governor Wike to Isolation Centre until Edo election is declared in favour of APC.
Governor Wike while describing Alhaji Ganduje as an irresponsible citizen said in his tweet @PDPVanguard, “I won’t join issues with Ganduje because we’re not at the same level. People should stop the comparison between us. I have never been caught in a videostape stuffing dollars into my pocket. In fact, all my clothes have no pockets. I’m a responsible citizen, unlike him.”
Also, in a statement, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, replied that the ruling party’s campaign head was lacking in moral integrity to stand before a decent public.
The PDP said the confession by the APC governorship candidate for Edo State, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, further validated the position by his party’s former National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, that he is unfit to be a governor.
The party told Ganduje that there will be no dollars available for him to loot in Edo State, describing the governor who is also Chairman of the APCNational Campaign Council for the Edo governorship election, as a “barefaced treasury looter.”
In its official twitter handle @OfficialPDPNigeria, the party dismissed Ganduje’s threat as inconsequential, saying, “Moreover, Governor Ganduje, with his infamous “gandollar” video, is no match to the Chairman of the @OfficialPDPNig National Campaign Council for the Edo election, @GovWike.
It went on: “Whereas @GovWike is a highly respected, upright, honest, transparent, people-based and development-driven leader, who is firmly in touch with the people of Edo state and enjoys their confidence and trust, Governor Ganduje, on the other hand, represent a leadership that is fraught with dishonesty, corruption, non-performance and public shame.
The @OfficialPDPNig therefore counsels Governor Ganduje and the @OfficialAPCNg to quietly perish the thoughts of looting Edo state treasury like they are doing in APC controlled states, as the people of Edo state will humiliate them in the September 19″.
Meanwhile, the verbal exchange continued to generate reactions mostly in the social media where a PDP member @Abdulla44548031 in his tweet said,“This is true, nobody will isolate a PDP member or key campaign organization of returning Governor Godwin Obaseki.
“The only thing APC knows is isolation, Dollars and Naira in Babban-riga. Edo state will not be like helicopter election in Kogi. Our workaholic governor will quarantine them all”.
Also reacting @KingBarane tweeted, “The strength of PDP is overwhelming in Nigeria and it is evident on the streets. PDP is popular in Nigeria and has won most elections since 1999. It is the popularity of the PDP in Nigeria that is shaking Ganduje”.
Reacting from Benin City, the Edo State capital, @Colkefas said, “If Nigeria politics was not for all comers, who’s Ganduje to talk of Edo elections? People that couldn’t trace and isolate Covid-19 patients in their states are boasting of what they’ll do in Edo. The He goat is having a party because of the collapsed walls”.
