Rivers State University Ranked 6th Best In Nigeria

Rivers State University ranked the 6th best University in Nigeria because of the institution’s tenacity of purpose, hard work of both academic and non-academic staff.
This was disclosed by the University’s Vice-chancellor, Prof. Nlerum S. Okogbule during a pre-convocation press conference.
According to him the University which was the first University of Science and Technology in the country to have met the task of producing the required high level manpower to meet the aspirations of the Niger Delta, and has responded to the peculiar environmental challenges of the region.
Prof. Okogbule noted that one of the banes of the Nigerian society was inability to sufficiently utilize the hindsight provided by historical events to chart the way forward for the development of the society, adding that as part of University’s contributions to national development, it has decided to document its historical past as a university to form the basis for further action.
He said the institution will use the opportunity of the convocation ceremony and 40th anniversary to present an important book which Chronicles the historical trajectory of the university from its foundation in 1980-2020 titled ” History of The Rivers State University” to serve as a good reference and research material on matters concerning Rivers State University.
He disclosed that the school would be graduating a total number of 5,837 students of both Bachelor’s degrees and Postgraduate degrees and that the university which started with 7 faculties now has 12 faculties including a faculty of Clinical Sciences with a prestigious College of Medical Sciences.
He expressed happiness that the University through its innovations had been able to address the challenges of oil spillage in the region through the use of sawdust and called on cooperate entities to support the efforts of the university.
