Rivers PDP Clinches Victory In Owerri Federal High Court
The State, Local Government and Ward Executives of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State chapter, ably led by Amb. Desmond Akawor, has recorded a landmark victory in a legal suit no.FHC/OW/CS/112/ 2020 that was before a Federal High Court, Owerri division in Imo State, challenging the process that brought the Executives in to office.
We recall that, some time ago the social media went agog by a certain document that was paraded, presumed to be a Judgment from a Federal High Court in Owerri stopping the Amb. Desmond Akawor led Executives from parading as the duly elected Executives of the Party in the State, questioning the process that brought them.
However, the party made efforts to educate the public on the true state of the matter and the position of the Court, promising to regularly provide updates on the progress of the case.
Today, February 19,2021, the same Federal High Court sitting in Owerri in Imo State, that was entertaining the matter, having heard the arguments of both parties finally gave its ruling, declaring that the complaints filed in the suit before it, by the Plaintiffs, were basically an internal affair of the Peoples Democratic Party, therefore the court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the case and struck out the suit on that grounds, putting an end to all the hullabaloo that came with the purported court document that was trending on social media.
The State Chairman of the Party, Amb. Akawor while reacting to the ruling through the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Tambari Sydney Gbara, thanked the Legal team, led by the State legal Adviser, Barr. Kingsley Chuku for their doggedness and display of professional competence and intelligence in defending the party.
He also praised the Court for delivering a Ruling that gave victory to the People, which equally vindicated the process that brought his executives to office, which was the crux of the matter, adding that the case only acted as a tonic of unity and love among the executives, while thanking members of the state executives including the Local Government and the Wards for standing tall and believing in his leadership all through the trying period, promising to continue to provide the needed positive leadership that will see the party to victory at all time.
He advised party members never to be distracted by such antics, while extending an olive branch to those who took the party to court and lost, to retrace their steps like that of the prodigal son in the Bible back to their father that his arms are wide open waiting to embrace them back to the party.
He charged party faithful to concentrate on the business of mobilising PDP members across the 44,42 units in the state to vote the party’s candidates in the forth coming Local Government Councillorship/ Chairmanship elections to victory.
