Abducted UNIPORT Lecturer Regains Freedom
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the release of Dr Jones Ayuwo the University of Port Harcourt lecturer who was kidnapped along Bori road after attending a function in Andoni Local Government area on February 21.
A statement released and signed by the spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni on Tuesday, March 16, said the release was largely due to intense and relentless pressure mounted by the Police which has before now through technical intelligence spotted the location of the kidnappers.
SP Omoni disclosed that the kidnappers on sighting the red flag abandoned their victim and took to their heels.
The Police image maker stated that the lecturer is receiving medical attention after which he will reunite with his family and friends.
SP Nnamdi Omoni in the statement said the Police working in synergy with other security agencies after the Traditional ruler and the lecturer were kidnapped deployed tact and diplomacy while avoiding bloody confrontation that may lead to fatalities on the part of the victims.
SP Omoni noted that with the release of the University Don, the coast is clear for the release of the Traditional ruler as al energy is being channelled towards his release.
