The successful official campaign flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as a stepping stone to victory for the party in the forthcoming local government elections in Rivers State.
Speaking with some of the PDP flag-bearers, Hon. Confidence Deko said he was grateful to God for his party in Gokana Local Government Area.
Hon. Deko expressed confidence that the PDP will clinch victory at the polls due to the antecedents of Governor Nyesom Wike whom he said has done creditably well for the people of the state and promised to replicate the good works of the governor.
He assured the people of Gokana that his administration will provide a peaceful atmosphere that would bring about the needed development, by ensuring that the issue of insecurity becomes a thing of the past, where the citizens can sleep with their two eyes closed.
Hon. Deko regretted the rate of insecurity and promised to tackle the situation by engaging the youths into skill acquisition programmes that would keep them busy.
He affirmed that the crusade for good governance is a collective responsibility and urged them not to compromise their integrity and competence in the choice of candidates. “I want the people of Gokana to come out and vote massively for me and all the PDP councillorship candidates” he appealed.
The chairmanship flag-bearer of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Erastus Awortu on his part, said if voted into power, he would give his people an egalitarian leadership that would respect the fundamental rights of the people.
His words: “My administration will make Andoni people happy, we will make life meaningful for people because that is the basic rights of every human being and Andoni people deserve no less.
He said a safer Andoni will attract more investments from local and foreign investors, hence he would ensure that security becomes paramount, stressing he will meet with the warring factions and fashion out a lasting solution for peace to reign with the collaboration of the chiefs, traditional rulers, stakeholders, the conventional security agencies and the state government.
He maintained that his administration will bring about a people oriented government where every other thing will be in place including education, health, etc, with the available resources of the council.
