Members of the United Church of Christ (UCC), Rumuomasi District, Port Harcourt have marked the 2021 Fathers Day celebration with a novelty football match.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the match between Oromeruezimgbu and Rumuomasi Districts, the Superintendent of UCC, Rumuomasi District, Rev. Dr. GodslightEmere said they decided to commemorate the day with a novelty football match in order to win the hearts and minds of youths as well as win souls for Christ.
“Nigeria has a large population. Therefore, we decided to use a novelty football match to win our youths for Christ. We are poised and determined to win more souls for Christ as well”, Emere hinted.
On his message to fathers in the 2021 Fathers Day celebration, Rev. Dr. Emere said, “Let our fathers keep leading and loving. In fact, our fathers should show leadership at all levels”. He added that both Oromeruezimgbu and Rumuomasi Districts would soon hold a joint crusade to win souls for Christ.
Also speaking, Superintendent of the Oromeruezimgbu District of the church, Rev. Dr. Amaechi Mba pointed out that the novelty football match is aimed at evangelism as well as increasing the population of the kingdom of God.
Rev. Dr. Mba also explained that they decided to organize the event not just to commemorate the fathers day but to use it to promote peace and unity between the two Districts.
