NPFL: Rivers United Beat Warri Wolves 2-1
…We Won Despite Fatigue – Coach Eguma
Week 32 of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match on Sunday at Adokiye Amiesamaka Stadium,Port Harcourt recorded a-2-1 defeat over Warri Wolves.
This result has moved Rivers United up to the 3rd position on the log with 55 points.
The two goals were scored by number 2 jersey for the host team, Godwin Aguda in the 23 and 61 minutes respectively.
The visiting team had taken an early lead in 2 minutes from commencement of the keenly contested encounter through a powerful shot by its number 3 jersey, Emmanuel Ihezuo, thereby setting the stage for aggressive onslaught by Rivers United who like a wounded lion fought from all fronts to equalize.
Reacting to the victory, Technical Manager of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma said he was happy that his boys won despite fatigue arising from long travels. Eguma described the game as “very tough”.
“I am happy that we won this game. You can see that it was a very tough game. At this stage of the league no team wants to drop points, the reason is that it is either you are chasing the title or you are fighting to escape relegation. So it was a good game and result for us”, he said.
The visiting team coach could not be available for postmatch interview, possibly because of the outcome of the game.
At the end of 90 minutes of the encounter, the game ended 2-1 in favour of Rivers United.
