Finidi George Is Enyimba’s New Head Coach

Finidi’s appointment came as a direct replacement for former Coach FataiOsho who left the Aba-based side in August following the expiration of his contract.

Former Super Eagles winger Finidi, 50, has signed a two-year contract with Enyimba, who have won the Nigerian league crown a record eight times.

This will be his first major coaching post after a playing career that spanned 15 years during which he played at two World Cups and featured for several top European clubs including Ajax Amsterdam, Real Betis and Real Mallorca.

His immediate task will be a CAF Confederation Cup second round tie against Diambers of Senegal next month.

Enyimba chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu said Finidi’s appointment has opened a new chapter in the history of the club.

“I believe that the time has come for us to open a new chapter, a chapter that will showcase the hard work that has been going on behind the scene and usher in a lot of success,” he said.

“For us to have engaged a coach like Finidi George, who is coming from Europe, is a clear statement of intent about our aspirations.”

Finidi himself promised to work for the success of Enyimba.

“It’s a great opportunity for the club to have this confidence in me,” he said.

“It’s never going to be easy, but I’m here to work and make the team win,” told
