  • Banigo To Christians: Avoid Actions That ‘ll Not Glorify God

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has urged Christians to avoid actions that would not glorify God because, He has destined man to praise His Glory.

Dr. Banigo stated this during the Convention and Special Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of Kingdom Life Gospel Outreach Ministries in Port Harcourt on Sunday, 28th November 2021.

According to Dr. Banigo, whatever you are doing and you are not praising His Glory, you need to get back to destiny.

“One thing the devil fights is our destiny because he knows that if each of us fulfils our destiny, this world will be a better place, but we also need to fight, for it is God who works in us to do His will and pleasure, the devil has no part in our destiny”. Dr. Banigo quipped.

Dr. Banigo said a few people still have trouble and get disappointed after giving their lives to Christ, which she attributed to faulty foundation, adding that the righteous needs to go back and correct the faulty foundation.

“So many things can cause strongholds and it has to be dealt with, so many people say Rivers State has a proud heritage.

I say no, I reject proud heritage, we have a goodly heritage, strongholds like, pride, soul ties, immortality, ancestral issues, we need to get back to the foundation, because we have been predestined, according to the purposes of Him, who works in us after His counsel and Will”. Dr. Banigo further stressed.

The Deputy Governor, who described Bishop Victor Uzosike as a leading light within and outside the shores of Rivers State in leading men and women to discover, recover and fulfil destinies, added that legacies are birthed in the place of destiny.

Speaking on the theme “Manifesting Kingdom Dominion”, drawn from Ezekiel 36:26-27, the Presiding Bishop of Kingdom Life Gospel Outreach, Bishop Victor Uzosike, said the anointing of God is critical at this time and season of our nationhood, noting that for the Country to survive the cloud of darkness plaguing it, would depend on the prayers of the saints.

He noted that for believers to manifest kingdom dominion, they must activate the river of the anointing within them.

  • PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

    KENULE BEESON SARO-WIWA POLYTECHNIC

    P.M.B. 20

    BORI

The authorities of Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, (‘KenPoly’) Bori, have become aware of a mischievous, baseless and maliciously concocted allegation on Social Media with false claim that students of ‘KenPoly’ Bori are denied access to their Statement of Result/Certificate owing to lack of funds to print the materials.  The same source also claims that our recent graduates are denied mobilization for the current batch of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

‘KenPoly’ wishes to use this medium to enjoin the general public to discountenance that information in its entirety, as it is the handiwork of some persons who are manifestly envious of the prevailing progress recorded by the Polytechnic.

For the records, it may interest the general public to note that:

    • KenPoly’ massively produced Statement of Result/Certificates and has since been issuing them to our graduates on request, provided they have concluded their process of clearance with the Institution and we are yet to exhaust one-quarter of the printed materials in our stock.
    • All qualified ‘KenPoly’ students due for mobilization to NYSC Camp for Batch C-Stream 2 are currently at the various Orientation camps nationwide without any hitch during documentation.
    • KenPoly’ is the first Tertiary Institution in Rivers State to complete the 2020/2021 Academic session having concluded 2nd Semester examinations in October, 2021.
    • 2nd Semester results will be considered and approved by Academic Board within the next 3 weeks.
    • 2021/2022 Academic session will commence from December 6, 2021 as KenPoly has since released her Academic calendar for the session.

Finally, it is necessary to state that in line with the NEW Vision of the Government of Rivers State in the education sector, the authorities of ‘KenPoly’ are student-friendly and determined to continually avail the students the best opportunities for their advancement. Therefore, we promise to sustain the tempo and even do more, in spite of the unwholesome antics of mischief-makers.

  • WAEC Raises Fee, Reverts To May/June Calendar

The Head of Nigeria National Office, West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Mr Patrick Areghan, has announced that the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, will be conducted in May/June.

Recall that in recent times, WAEC conducted WASSCE between August and October.

Mr Areghan disclosed the revert back to the previous duration of the conduct of WASSCE on Monday while announcing 2021 results at the council national office, Yaba.

”Let me thank the Federal and the various Ministries of Education for working so hard to stabilize the academic calendar.  Accordingly, as a result of the return to normalcy, the Honourable Minister of Education has requested that the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2022 should be conducted in May/June 2022.

“This position has been communicated to the Registrar to Council in Accra and he has assured us that it will be reckoned with in drawing up the International time-table for the examination. And so, by the special grace of God, the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2022 will be taking place in May/June 2022. Entries for the examination will be floated on Monday, December 6, 2021,” WAEC boss explained.

Meanwhile, Mr Areghan has disclosed that from 2022, the cost of registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, has been raised from N13,950 to N18,000 to meet the demands of economic reality.

According to him, “Owing to the devastating effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic which has brought the global economy to its knees, the unabating spiraling inflation in the country as can be seen in the general cost of doing business and the multiplier effect of the unabating insecurity in the country which have consequential effects on the cost of our operations, it is no longer possible to continue to provide services with the current fee of N13, 950.00 per candidate.

“Furthermore, our ad-hoc workers; supervisors, examiners, checkers, item writers and indeed, all examination functionaries, have been agitating for improved remunerations. We have received approval from the appropriate quarters with effect from the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2022, to charge N18, 000.00 per candidate.

“We are, therefore, asking all school principals to collect N18,000.00 per candidate for registration. A part of this new fee has been dedicated to the enhancement of the remunerations for the various examination functionaries and our Governing Board has graciously approved the remunerations, which will come into effect from the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2022.

“Any amount beyond this ceiling will not be to our consent or knowledge and will definitely not come to the purse of the West African Examinations Council.” Mr Areghan noted.

  • WAEC Releases 2021 SSCE Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the result of the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a statement disclosed on Monday by the Head of the Nigeria National Office of the Council, Patrick Areghan said a total of 80.56 per cent have been fully processed, and 19.44 per cent still being processed due to some issues being resolved.

He said a total of 1,573,849 candidates registered for the WASSCE across 19,425 approved secondary schools in the country while 1,560,261 actually sat for the exam.

According to him, 1,274,784 of the candidates got credit and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

He said 1,560,261 candidates obtained credit and above in a minimum of any five subjects — that is with or without English Language and Mathematics.

Areghan also said the exam body seized the results of 170,146 candidates for alleged involvement in exam malpractices.

He added that WAEC has already processed and released the results of 1,256,990 candidates, which represents 80.56% of those who sat for the exam in Nigeria.

Areghan also said that WAEC is still processing the results of 303,271 candidates, which represents 19.44% of the total figure that took the exam in the country.

The WAEC head disclosed that the delay was due to the fact that some of the candidates have issues with their subjects.

Areghan also said the result checker pin and serial number that candidates need to check their results online are already contained in the candidate smart identity card that was used for the exam.

This year’s edition of the exam was held between August 16 and October 8 — although the exercise ended in Nigeria on September 30.

The exam was earlier billed for May/June but was rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The examination, which was an international one, took place simultaneously throughout the five-member countries of the Council – The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone, using the same International Timetable.

“The examination spanned seven weeks, between August 16 and October 8, 2021.

“Throughout the period, we were faced with serious security challenges in the South East (IPOB and ESN sit-at-home order) and banditry, kidnapping, insurgency, etc, in the north and other parts of the country.

“All these, coupled with the continuous effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic, made the whole exercise a Herculean one.”
