Chief Amadi Slams Amaechi
The former Governor of Rivers State and Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has been described as a disappointment to Ikwerre and entire Rivers people.
This was the assertion of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, High Chief Lucky Amadi, in a chat with newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt over the weekend.
He made it clear that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and indeed Chibuike Amaechi have no moral justification to canvas for votes in Rivers State, having failed to attract anyone project to the State as a Minister.
“Compared to when governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was even a Junior Minister, we all saw what he did, especially in our educational sector.
What would Amaechi point at as his contribution as a Minister of Transportation, High Chief Amadi asked, noting that Port Harcourt International Airport is an eye sore, the seaports are not working not even the abandoned mono-rail project.
“We expected that he would use the opportunity to complete the project but he failed to do so,” he lamented.
Chief Amadi was also at a loss why Amaechi is interested in imposing a gubernatorial candidate on Rivers people, describing it as another method of seeking a third tenure in office as governor.
“He should be able to allow the contestants speak for themselves, if he so trust their judgement, and capabilities, why would he cry more than the bereaved,” Chief Amadi asked.
On why the two Ikwerre brothers and friends (Wike/Amaechi) have refused every attempt to reconcile their differences in the interest of the State, he described the situation as wicked because according to him, “even the natural law permits forgiveness and reconciliation with your enemies.
On whether there is hope for Nigeria’s unity and continuous cooperate existence, Hon. Amadi expressed optimism, saying that what needed to be done is for the authorities to review the situation and correct the identified anomalies that make some sections of the society to agitate for equity and fairness.
The astute politician also supported that the good aspect of the 2014 Constitutional Conference Report should be looked into and implemented in the interest of the country.
On the possible solution to the incessant complaints on election rigging and manipulation, Hon. Amadi said the onus lies on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials to conduct a credible, free and fair election.
“Despite whatever has been done at the polling booths or collation centres, if the INEC resists gratification to manipulate the figure or result to favour a particular candidate or political party it would not work”.
The Eneka born politician made it clear that with the ‘superlative performance’ of Gov Wike in Rivers State, it will be difficult to rig him out of office in the forthcoming election.
“All mobilization organizations are at work to convince the grassroot why the governor must be returned back to office with evidence of his performance which include road and infrastructural development as well as empowerment and employment of the citizens.
