Stopping Multiple Taxation, Yielding Economic Development In Rivers – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that his administration has tackled multiple taxation to encourage economic growth.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the management of Airtel Network Limited at the Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Governor Wike urged corporate organisations to partner with the Rivers State Government for the empowerment of the people.

He said: “We have worked hard to reduce multiple taxation. If you run into any problems with any local government area, get in touch and we will resolve them.

“If investors go away, our people will not be employed. So, we will provide an enabling environment that is conducive for investors to thrive”.

The governor called on Airtel Network Limited to work with the State Government for the successful hosting of National Festival of Arts and Culture.

Governor Wike charged corporate organisations to always employ Rivers indigenes in top positions and also avoid cutting corners in their operations.

He said that the investment climate of the state has improved because of the efforts of his administration to create opportunities for the people.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Airtel Network Limited, Mr Segun Ogunsanya said that the company operates 500 towers and has employed 2000 agents operating kiosks in different parts of the state.

He said that the team is in the state to officially launch its 4G Network, which he claimed is the largest and most efficient in the country.

Ogunsanya commended the Rivers State Governor for his outstanding projects delivery which have developed the business climate in the state .

Highpoint of the visit was the official presentation of the 4G SIM to the Rivers State Governor by the Managing Director of Airtel Network Limited.
