A cool headed youngman, Edwin Ekezie Nwenenda was on Saturday September 29, elected as the new president of Oro-Esara United Youth Movement (OSUYM).
He polled 47 votes to defeat his opponent, Bright Ikechi Ihunwo who got 20 votes.
Other officers elected to run the affairs of Oro-Esara Youths with him for the next two years are; Ike Amadi – Vice President I, he scored 42 votes, Sophia T. Wobo – Vice President 2, she was elected with 34 votes, King Okene Nsirim – Secretary, he polled 51 votes, Ekezie Kinido David – Assistant Secretary, he got 32 votes, Obialor Nlemonu PRO, he won with 42 votes and Wobo Princewill – Publicity Secretary, who won with 34 votes.
Others are; Florence Wogunka – Woman Leader I, she won with 30 votes, Queen O. John – Woman Leader 2, she got 20 votes, Ovunda Kingsley Ikwunga – Organizing Secretary, he had 32 votes, Worlu Uchechukwu – Director of Socials, he had 40 votes and Elizabeth Wosu – Financial Secretary, she won the position with 46 votes.
The election which was conducted by an eight member electoral committee headed by High Chief Innocent O. Ikwunga was well organized free and fair and devoid of rancor.
Earlier before announcing the results the Eleco chairman, High Chief Innocent Ikwunga had thanked the Oro-Esara Youths for conducting themselves responsibly while advising the winners not to convert their victory to winners take all, but to treat those who lost as brothers and sisters and carry them along in their administration. He said the election had entered the record books as one of the freest and fairest youth elections in the history of Oro-Esara.
In an interview with newsmen, the Oro-Esara youth president, Edwin Ekezie Nwenenda said he would focus on moving Oro-Esara to greater heights, engage the youths in useful ventures, preach peace and curb youth restiveness.
He advised the youths to engage in meaningful activities and embrace peace in order to move the kingdom forward, while soliciting for the support and wisdom of the chiefs and elders of the area to enable them run a successful administration.
One of those who witnessed the historic election was the outgoing president, Atuzie Ihunda who told our correspondence that it was free and fair.
