PDP Chieftain Lauds Gov Wike Over Hitch-Free Convention

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, High Chief Lucky Amadi, has congratulated the State Chief Executive, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, over the successful hosting of the PDP National Convention in Port Harcourt as well as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for emerging victorious as the party’s presidential candidate at the primary election adjudged as most transparent in the annals of Nigeria’s history.

Speaking with newsmen at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, venue of the convention over the weekend, Chief Amadi said that what happened showed that credible and transparent election was possible in the country, if those in charge are committed to it.

He stated that the development has indeed proved enemies of the state wrong, adding that “the successful and peaceful convention has not only proved doubting Thomas wrong about the security situation of the State but assured that it is a safe haven for investors”, he noted.

High Chief Amadi made it known that the eventual emergence of Alhaji Abubakar is a good omen for the country as the candidate is a tested and trusted businessman cum politician, who has all it takes to restore the country to her lost glory. “I must tell you that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a better match to President Muhammadu Buhari, no wonder the jubilation in the country since the news broke out”.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the other eleven presidential aspirants to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship, embrace and work together with Alhaji Atiku and the party to rescue the country from the clutches of the enemies.

He, however, was skeptical over the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agents in the electoral process, advising them to be focused, unbiased, patriotic and determined to achieve credible election.

“The electorate should monitor the security agents and INEC officials to ensure that they don’t scuttle the process. This will allow the right candidates to emerge in the interest of the country”, he said.

On the challenges of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Chief Amadi said the party’s failure is the emergence of two guber candidates as not even the voters don’t know who among the two, Senator Magnus Abe and the stranger, Mr. Dele Cole imposed by somebody somewhere on the people of the State.

The PDP stalwart also used the opportunity to appeal to those who are agitating for a governor from the riverine area to jettison their ambition till 2023 when Wike must have completed his second tenure and all the stakeholders would jointly consider the area that would produce the next governor as no one section of the State can do it alone.
