Evo Kingdom Monarch Promises To Complement Gov. Wike’s Peace Efforts

A first class traditional ruler in Rivers State, and Paramount Ruler of Woji community, the Oha Evo III of Evo Kingdom, HM (Dr.) Amb. Sir Leslie Nyebochi Eke has promised to continually complement the efforts of Governor Nyesom Wike in maintaining peace and order in the State.

The Monarch who made this known when the Lions Club International paid him a courtesy visit in his palace over the weekend said the governor has done very well in infrastructural development and peace which amounts to good governance, adding that it is proper for all the traditional rulers to continually complement the governor’s effort in maintaining peace and order in their domains.

He observed that no community can make a headway in an atmosphere of crisis, saying peace is the only veritable instrument for development, and that as traditional rulers, it is their responsibility to ensure absolute peace in their respective domains and to avoid chieftaincy crisis.

According to him, if peace is maintained in their various communities, it will automatically translate to the general peace in the State.

The monarch thanked members of the Lions Club International for the recognition they accorded the stool and for making him an honorary member of the Club, describing the visit as a confirmation of his passion towards humanitarian work.

He disclosed that he was a member of Junior Chamber International and owned a Foundation called Right Future Foundation that carters for youths and women, assuring that he would give the club the necessary assistance it deserved.

Amb. Nyebochi Eke said he believes in service to humanity, which he described as the best service in life and commended the club for keeping faith with the government by working side by side with the government in providing succor to the needy.

The Lions’ delegation led by its district governor, Lion Engr. Otonabasi Ansa, said that they were in Rivers State to deliberate on issues that would move the Lions forward and to choose Port Harcourt for the conference due to its peaceful disposition and also being the heartbeat of South-South.

According to the district governor, the Lions deemed it necessary to pay homage to the King for maintaining peace in his domain as well as for the support and cooperation he has shown the government, the security agencies and companies operating in the area, stressing that the monarch had become a model for other traditional rulers in the State.

He made it clear that if other traditional rulers would operate the way Eze Oha Evo III of Evo Kingdom was doing there would be total peace in Rivers State.

The club promised the king of including his kingdom in their scheme of things when it comes to rendering services to humanity.

Dignitaries at the event were Amb. Charles Woko, the Community Development Committee Chairman – Eneka, Barr. Edudet Eyoma, Divine Edwin, Edua Effanga, Elder Nsikan Bassey and Serah Walter George among others.
