Outrage Over Abandoned Baby In Bori
Residents of Bori metropolis, the traditional headquarters of Ogoni, in Khana Local Government Area have expressed anger over the death of an eight months old baby, who was abandoned by her mother at a dump site along Court Road on Thursday.
Those who spoke to National Network on the sad development expressed shock that a woman would throw away such precious gift as a child.
An eye witness who gave his name as Kelvin Woke attributed the unfortunate incident to the rising case of sex hawking among female teenagers, poverty and moral decadence in the area.
Woke, who made his feelings known through the Social media, called on the National Assembly to make Laws that would impose severe prison sentence on offenders.
Another respondent, who only identified herself as Martha, warned on the implication of discarding a baby as it could mar their chances of child bearing in future.
“After marriage and baby is not coming, you accuse your village people or the witch next door of being responsible for your plight thereby putting your husband under pressure”, said Martha, who revealed that she is a student of Kenule Beeson Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori.
According to Princess John, who also took to the Social media, women should abstain from sex, if they are not ready for pregnancy, adding that abstinence remains the best option to unwanted pregnancy.
“This baby, whose life has been destroyed today would have become a prominent person in the future”, she stated.
Others who spoke to our reporter poured invectives on the perpetrator of what they described as a dastardly act and called on the Police to investigate the crime so as to bring the criminal to book.
