United CDC Inaugurated In Obio/Akpor

…Charged To Work In Synergy

Following the formation of a forum of Community Development Committee Chairmen throughout the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State under the aegis of United CDC, the Obio/Akpor chapter has been formally inaugurated.

Inaugurating the Obio/Akpor chapter, the second in the series, the State Coordinator of the body, Mr. John Chidiere Onwubualiri, said though the communities have peculiar terrain and circumstances, the CDC chairmen, they realized, would do their job of assisting the security agents, traditional rulers and the government to improve the welfare of their people better when they come together as a body.

He advised the inaugurated Exco members not to challenge the authorities but to work with them not only to promote peace and security but to attract development to their different areas of jurisdiction through sharing of information.

Earlier in his opening speech, the UCDC, Obio/Akpor Chapter Coordinator, Mr. Kingsley C. Okabie who is the Rumuomoi CDC chairman, promised that they will carry out their responsibilities diligently but requested for materials and enabling environment to do their job satisfactorily.

He disclosed further that through sharing of information and holding regular meetings and consultation, they are sure to succeed in their responsibility.

Among some of the objectives assigned to the group, he noted, was sustenance of the cultural heritage for the unborn generation.

The UCDC, the LGA Coordinator disclosed further, was working in synergy with the security agents and various social institutions in curbing the incessant crimes and other social vices which he noted is prevalent in the rural communities.

Mr. Okabie also used the opportunity to appreciate the effort of the Obio/Akpor local government chairman, Hon. Solomon Eke, and that of the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, in not only improving the infrastructural development of Obio/Akpor and the State but their concerted effort aimed at restoring the State to her gardens city status.

Some dignitaries who graced the event, including traditional rulers and politicians gave their goodwill messages and also called on the newly inaugurated Exco to be committed to their responsibilities.

The Exco members include Kingsley C. Okabie, Rumuomoi CDC Chairman, LG Coordinator; Justus W. Chinwo, Woji CDC chairman, Deputy LG Coordinator; Brawn Wali, Rumuosi CDC Chairman, Secretary; Prince Henry Chuku, Rumunkara CDC, Chairman, Financial Secretary; Osondu Orlu, Eliozu CDC Chairman, Pub. Sec; Henry Odum, Elelenwo CDC Chairman, Treasurer; and Sunny Odum,  Rumuoluemeni CDC Chairman, Legal Adviser.
