Rivers State Medium Term Expenditure Framework Underway

With the first reading given to the Rivers State Medium Term  Expenditure Framework by the Rivers State House of Assembly, the State will soon be armed with an executive policy that would guide its expenditure.

The Executive Bill, which was submitted to the House by Governor Nyesom Wike, would when passed into law provide for a  policy framework that will guide the expenditure for the State within the three year period, 2019 – 2023.

Meanwhile, as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the State, the House has promised to facilitate the passage of the Rivers State Healthcare Insurance Bill

The House Committee Chairman on Health, Hon Adonye Diri, gave the assurance when he led members of his Committee to the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board.

Hon Diri disclosed that the Bill, if passed into law, will make healthcare affordable to the common man, adding that the House would partner with the Board to ensure they deliver on their mandate.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Dr Agiri Harry, called for closer interaction between the Board and Local Government Chairmen and assured that with the Health Insurance Scheme in place, the Primary Health Care System would be revived.
