Etche-American Foundation Donates Two Hilux Vans To Police

As part of measures to fight crime and criminality in Etche Land, members of a none-governmental organization, Etche-American Foundation based in United States have donated two brand new Hilux vans to the police and Area Command operating in Etche.

Speaking to newsmen while handing-over the vehicles to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the officers’ mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, the chairman of board of directors, Etche-American Foundation, Mr. Dominic Amugwu said the foundation decided to donate the vehicles to the police to check insecurity in Etche and Omuma, stating that the situation is giving them over there great concern as no meaningful development can thrive in an unsafe environment.

He noted that the foundation has also been donating laptops to many Etche sons and daughters who are ready to engage in productive ventures, adding that the organization has also been partnering with Ogbakor Etche to restore the past glory of Etche land in various spheres of human endeavours and thanked them for their leadership qualities.

Also speaking, the DPO in charge of Etche Divisional Police Headquarters, Okehi, CSP Dayyabu Ahmed said the foundation is sincerely sensitive and committed to tackle security challenges facing the communities in the area by responding promptly to the demands he made when he was invited at their 2018 convention in Texas (USA) to present a paper bordering on security in Etche, stressing that, their plans to also fence the police station at Okehi is highly commendable. He also lauded them for being the first NGO to donate vehicles that could boost security in the state and urged others to borrow a leaf from them.

In his remarks, the President General of Ogbakor Etche, Sir Machy Nwodim acknowledged the contributions of the foundation in tackling security challenges in Etche as well as assisting in empowering the youths through various skill acquisition training programmes as a way of checking restiveness occasioned by idleness and thanked them for working in synergy with Ogbakor Etche to achieve set goals.
