WOWICAN Prays For Peaceful Elections In Rivers, Nigeria
The chairperson-elect of the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN, who is also the first female Archbishop in Rivers State, Her Eminence, Archbishop Dr. Amb. Mrs. Elizabeth Paul-Obelley, has called on women to come out enmasse and vote in the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria.
She also called on them to use their peculiar roles to communicate with their husbands and advise the youths to shun violence and any acts inimical to peaceful, free and credible elections in the country.
Speaking to newsmen after a one-day prayer and fasting session held at the South South Zonal Secretariat of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, she said:” Women should use their privileged positions to ensure those around them do not engage in violence or acts inimical to peaceful and credible elections in Nigeria, generally and Rivers State, especially, ” she said.
The archbishop who is also the General Overseer of Shammah Christian Ministry Int’l Inc. also commended the governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, for the amazing work he has done in the state, generally and Christendom, especially, such as the completion of the Ecumenical Centre and other immense contributions and promises he has made to the body of Christ.
“We, the WOWICAN- the umbrella body covering all the women Christian Organizations in Rivers State, assure you of our support in your second tenure ambition in the state,” she said while praying for God to avail Nigerians peaceful and credible elections in Rivers State and Nigeria, at large.
