The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Prince Solomon Eke, has condemned ongoing cult war among rival members in some part of the Local Government, describing it as most wicked and criminal.
Prince Eke, who said the reprisal cult attacks and killings going on in Alakahia and Choba communities had caused tension and threatened the peace in the area making residents to live in fear.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt to react to the killing of a suspected cult leader in Alakahia, one Chima Ibe and ongoing reprisal, the Obio/Akpor Local Government boss, said the council would not fold its arm and watch criminal elements terrorise any community.
Prince Eke, urged residents to be vigilant and not harbor any criminal and requested them to provide useful information toI’m the security agencies with the aim to tracking down the suspected cult members.
He warned all those involved in cultism in the area to desist forthwith and urged parents to closely monitor their wards as anyone caught would be made to face the law.
The Council boss thanked the police and other collaborating security agents for the timely deployment to manage the situation.
Prince Eke particularly noted the proactive measures taken by the Police Area Commander in Choba and the men of the Inspector General of Police monitoring team, to restore order and track down some of the gang members.
The Obio/Akpor Chairman, assured the people of the area to remain calm as the government will not abdicate its responsibilities to ensure security of lives and property.
