Retired Asst Commissioner of Police Buries Wife

The remains of Madam Maria Chinyere Ochonma(JP), wife of Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Ike Ochonma, who died on 23rd of January in Port Harcourt at the age of 67, have been laid to rest.

Late Madam Ochonma was the Chief Education Officer/ Inspector of police schools in Rivers/Bayelsa States, and she was also the Secretary-General of the Police Officers’ Wives  Association (POWA) for 8 years.

Speaking at the burial service conducted by the St. Matthews Anglican Church in Atani Agbor, Arochukwu, the officiating minister, Rev Johnson C. Onuoha described the deceased as a godly woman who exemplified the character of a true Christian, wife, and mother. He enjoined everyone present to emulate the sterling qualities portrayed by the deceased.

The first son of the deceased, Dr. Kennedy Ochonma, in an emotion-laden voice spoke lovingly about his late mother, describing her as the best mother in the world.

The second daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Tricia Chinenye Edoho, in her tribute extolled the sound virtues instilled in her by the late mom. She told the tearful audience that their mother was really a gift to humanity.

With tearful eyes, the husband of the deceased, ACP Ike Ochonma (rtd), who retired from active service as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rivers State in 2008.

He described her as a selfless wife, a pillar of support, and his inspiration.
