Elioparanwo PDP Leader Laments Dilapidated Primary School

The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Elioparanwo Community of Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Comrade Clifford Nnanta Wahunoro JP, has drawn the attention of the Rivers State government to the abysmal state of Community Primary School, Elioparanwo which was destroyed by a deadly storm more than two years ago.

He said the destruction of the Community Primary School, Elioparanwo has forced all of its pupils to desert the school and take refuge at the nearby UBE Model Primary School, resulting to  congestions and discomfort to fellow pupils.

The PDP chieftain who made the appeal on Monday during a Community Get-together to celebrate the victory of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in last month Governorship election in the State, begged the governor to assist the community to ameliorate the plight faced by the pupils.

He regretted that due to years of isolation, the primary school has been overgrown by weeds even as stated that snakes and other dangerous reptiles have taken over the building and its surroundings.

The former Caretaker member of OBALGA who praised Governor Wike for having a listening ear, particularly commended him for harkening to the cry of the Elioparanwo people with the construction of the Elioparanwo-Ogbogoro Road, as well as the link road to neighboring Mgbuakara community, describing the projects as landmark.

He told journalists that celebrating Governor Wike’s election victory would continue for a very long time as, according to him, “When we think of what God did for us in that historic election, his love, his mercies and protection, we have no choice than to thank him every day”.

While assuring Governor Wike of the total support and continued cooperation of Elioparanwo people to his administration, Wahunoro stated that the current peace in the community would be sustained, as according to him, a peaceful and tranquil environment is the bedrock of any meaningful development.

While also condemning the spate of kidnapping now pervading a section of the East-West Road, the soft-spoken politician called on security agencies to adopt a more drastic approach in tackling the menace.

“I would urge His Excellency to wade in by compelling all village heads, youths and CDC leadership in the affected communities to report the culprits to appropriate authority.  They should sign undertaking that failure to do as government has directed would lead to serious sanctions”, he posited.

As a way of nipping the malady in the bud, he suggested that all police and military officials manning security along the East-West Road, up to Ahoada, should immediately be drafted out of the area and swapped with those from other zones such as Eleme and Ogoni areas.

On the olive branch extended to members of other political parties by Governor Wike, Wohunoro applauded the move and described Wike as a leader with the Wisdom of Solomon.

“These are the traits that endeared Wike to the hearts of Rivers people. Look at the recent committee he inaugurated for the Swearing-in, he matched words with action by appointing members of other political parties into the committee.  That is the quality of a great leader.  He is carrying everyone along.

“I am also calling on all Rivers people, whether you are Amaechi, Precious Elekima or whoever, come let us join hands and build our dear State.  That is Governor Wike’s stand and that is where I and my people of Elioparanwo stand”, he declared.
