Rivers Police Command Denies Killing Of Seven Officers, 42 Others
The Rivers State Police Command has denied the online report of the wanton killing of seven of its men and 42 civilians in the State recently. Also denied was the report that a police station was burnt.
The Command said the report was totally false and made in bad faith to make the public form a dangerous impression and live with such opinions about the State police Command.
A statement signed by the State Police Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni said their officers and men were ever ready to fight all manner of crimes and criminality in the State, not minding the necessary distractions.
Mr. Omoni said the command under the watch of the State Police Commissioner, Usman Belel, is irrevocably committed to tackling crime and criminality headon, stressing that nobody will be spared if caught in any crime no matter how highly placed.
He however, assured that investigation had been ordered into the allegations to ascertain their veracity and sources.
The command reiterated its resolve to protect lives and property, maintain law and order and ensure that the State is safe and secure.
It appealed to residents in the State to remain steadfast but to increase their security consciousness by being vigilant and report all suspicious movements and characters to the Police.
