Obiano Charges Landlords To Do Background Check On Their Tenants

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has called on landlords across the State to be weary of the caliber of tenants they let out their houses to.

He made the call recently during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting at the Government House, Awka.

Obiano assured residents and citizens of the state that Anambra remains the safest state in Nigeria even as he warned that buildings being used for criminal hideouts will be demolished in accordance with the provisions of the criminal laws of the state.

He enjoined landlords to ascertain the background of their prospective tenants before giving out accommodation to them.

The governor stressed that cultism has become a challenge in the country, adding that a special police anti-cult squad has been dedicated to tackle the menace.

While warning youths in the state against engaging in crimes, Obiano said that N5million reward has since been paid to the informant that disclosed the assassinators of the President-General of Nimo Town Union, Chief Frank Anthony Igboka adding that extra N5 million bounty per head is still up for those that will give information leading to the arrest of the remaining three suspects.

The governor used the occasion to commend security agencies in the state for arresting the suspects that allegedly assassinated Chief Igboka who was shot and killed in his country home on April 18, 2019.

He maintained that law enforcement agencies are relentlessly searching for them, reiterating that his administration values the lives of Anambra people, no matter their place of residence.

“I advise criminals to leave the state because it is not a safe haven for them. Wherever they are in the state, they will be fished out,” the governor assured.
